Having read through these regs 4.1 and 4.2A suggest that the Scottish Sprint & Hillclimb Championship are running an A9 class. I wonder if this is correct. Perhaps somebody from the Committee could clarify.

I can confirm that there is no A9 class running in 2017.

'A9' is the designation reserved for an MX5-based class, which the Committee considered a request to include. After discussion with the Scottish MX5 Hillclimb and Sprint Register, that idea was put on hold because of concerns about thinning out their field at present.

It is still the hope to introduce that class at some future date, and we are due to have another discussion with the 'Register organisers about it before too long.

Cheers, Colin

Just in case you're considering entering class A9, this class is run in the Lowland Speed and Highland Speed championship referred to in Peter Locke's post in the NEWS: Lowland and Highland Speed Championships for 2017 thread above this one.

The official page is now updated with the entry list.

A number of the information items are "tbd" and had been holding off, but now marked as such and hope for update soon.

Hillclimb scores up to Round 11 Forrestburn now posted.

With Doune coming in just 11 days, gives everyone time to do that last mental math gymnastics to work out what needs done to win class, division, overal , ladies , classics and newcomers :)
Important to check your scores and raise to Iain Thompson as Hillclimb Co ordinator any question or queries.
Now on the last event a key factor is the points which will be dropped if a competitor has completed more than 8 events. Only the top 8 scoring events scores count, so the lowest scores will be dropped for any events over that. Those dropping larger scores can find themselves falling back.quite dramatically.
There are plenty of close tussles, with Jim King and Peter Marshall in A2 with Peter due to drop a 4, while Jim will be dropping an 8.; Similar in A4 if both running at Doune, with Stuart Imrie and John Hamilton both dropping 8s and only 2 points between them. Andrew Grover and Trevor Park will be a close battle with currently only a two point lead for Andrew, but Andrew dropping a 6 and Trevor an 8, making it level playing field ( on a hill ! ) if both competing. Overal the top 3-4 all have a chance with Ross Napier holding current top position but will be looking to drop 19 points if he runs at Doune in the hope of getting 20.
With so many close scores and so much competition it will be an excellent weekend on 16/17 September at the King of the Hills to close the season's Hillclimb Championship.

Speed standings are now posted on the web page along with the pdf version of the Sprint.

The Speed is as it came to me and unfortunately I cant sort it.
So if required, please contact Colin or Tim as secretary and co-ordinator respectively.
Sorry, but felt getting it out with so little time to last event was key.
Hopefully get an updated version out soon or an excel so you can sort yourself :)

Peter,

Could you please explain - publicly - what makes you believe that it's up to you to decide when championship results are declared final?

I'm the Sprint Championship co-ordinator and I have no intention whatever of declaring anything final on 1st October and neither I nor anyone else has told you otherwise.

David Loomes
